SmoothRide was created by Arthur Ozga, Andrew Lavery, Brian Margosian, and myself at the Spring 2013 PennApps Hackathon external link. This pre-alpha quality mobile app, created in 36 hours, works with your phone's GPS and a wirelessly bike-mounted accelerometer to automatically map road roughness. A community of cyclists with these could generate enough data to map the smoothest and most enjoyable cycling routes through cities.
